About the Library at the Academy of American Studies

The mission of the Academy of American Studies Library is to equip students to develop into critically thinking, lifelong readers and learners. In addition, our aim is to foster a safe, inclusive space where all patrons feel represented and accepted. To that end, the library will maintain diverse reading materials so students will (a) see themselves represented in the works they read and (b) broaden their worldview in learning about others’ experiences. Together, all the stakeholders in learning will aspire to make the Academy of American Studies’ Library a place to thrive both academically and personally.
